Haruichiban

Apparently there’s a word in Japanese for the first storm of spring that brings the warm weather – Haruichiban (春一番).

Spring actually began a couple of weeks ago but until this weekend it’s still been quite bitterly cold.

On Friday evening the Haruichiban arrived, howling around the building making the windows rattle. Then yesterday it was surprisingly warm – almost warm enough to wear a t-shirt outside. It’s looking like it’ll be the same today.

Tokyo 7 day weather forecast

Unfortunately the weather forecast says the temperature is going to start to fall again on Tuesday, and then remain cold for the rest of the week.
